Warminster Town Council has announced the town will be home to a cycle pump track.
In a meeting held by the council on Monday, 28, January, 2013 it was announced the proposals brought forward by David French of the Warminster Cycle Group will go ahead.
The track will be an all weather circuit with a series of jumps and curves to help cyclists improve stability on bicycles.
The nearest cycle pump track is in Frome and Warminster Cycle Group is hoping to build a larger course.
Sports charities and the Lottery Fund will help with the cost of building the track.
In a statement by Warminster Council they said: "The group feels that the popularity of this type of facility is growing; the course will be able to be used in all weather conditions and, if large enough, will attract many local riders wanting to get out, get fit and enjoy themselves."
A location for the cycle track is still being discussed by the Warminster Cycle Group and Warminster Town Council. However, the track will not be near any residential properties due to the noise level the track may have.
Warminster Town Council welcomed the proposal because of the positive impact the Warminster Cycle Group has had on the community in recent years.
Do you think the cycle track will be beneficial to Warminster. Have your say here!

Hi WP, yes its great news for the town now that the council has approved, in principle, the idea of a PumpTrack, the real work now begins. The group have to get quotes from specialist contractors as part of the intended Lottery bid to fund the project. Some of the folk who were involved with the now infamous and much love BMX track have also got in touch and with their help this project wilol become a reality. The track, when built, will attract riders from the area and be a great compliment to the Warminster Wobble held every year for the past 4 years in June.
