Ever put off by the cost of swimming? If you get stuck for something to do with the children this Easter, throwing them in the pool for an hour has suddenly become a more appealing option as young people will be able to swim for free as Wiltshire Council's pledge to fund free swimming during school holidays begins.

Children in Warminster will love swimming during the holidays - and you'll love the fact it is free!
Children aged up to 16 can enjoy free swimming during all public swimming sessions at their local Wiltshire Council and DC Leisure managed leisure centres in Wiltshire throughout the school holidays.
The decision was made to provide free swimming for under 16's during all public swimming sessions throughout school holidays at the council's recent budget meeting to encourage children to be active and stay healthy.
Cabinet member for leisure Stuart Wheeler said: "We hope as many children as possible take up this opportunity and enjoy free swimming this Easter as part of their holiday activities.
"Keeping fit is so important and we hope having these free sessions will encourage young people to stay active in the long term as well. This is an Olympic year when young people's interests in sport will be heightened so offering free swimming provides an added incentive to exercise whilst having fun."
Those under 16 will be able to gain free access to all public swimming sessions during the Wiltshire Council recognised school holidays, however each Leisure Centre will retain the right to request proof of age before granting entry. Please contact your local pool for further details relating to this offer.

I think this is a great way to get kids out and about as well as getting fit and healthy :) Great to see leisure centres encouraging it. Naomi
