Warminster's Kingdown School went the extra mile last week and scooped the top prize for schools in this year's UK Eco-Marathon held at Mallory Park, Leicestershire.
Kingdown Students Go Green with Eco Car Challenge
The Eco-marathon competition challenges schools, universities and professional companies, to design, build and test fuel efficient vehicles.
The aim is to complete the course using the least fuel possible whilst maintaining a pre-set average speed. Drivers, Oliver Dooley and Ben Whitfield-Lott, both year 7 students drove this year's car, with Oliver eventually achieving a best run of 2051 miles per gallon!
This result placed the school third in the overall event, behind: 1st Bath University and 2nd Cambridge University. This was a great result, one that we can all be really proud of.
Kingdown School would like to thank their sponsors for their support in this competition: TEC Contractors, Waitrose, Mr Filberts Fine Foods, Airborne Composites, Arval and Synionic Oils.
If you would like to help sponsor next year's car please contact Mr Leater at Kingdown School.
