Man charged with attempted murder in Mere

Richard Fletcher, aged 46 of Dolphin Street in Salisbury has been formally charged with the attempted murder of Jakub Samulak, aged 22, in the Hillside Close area of Mere.

Mr Fletcher is accused of wounding Mr Samulak with a nine-inch kitchen knife. He suffered wounds to his back and arms, and was taken to Salisbury District Hospital following the 999 call around 6am on Wednesday morning.

Mr Fletcher has been remanded in custody by Wiltshire Police, and the case will be heard at Winchester Crown Court on March 23.
