One of Warminster's churches invited the public to view plans for their next development this morning.  Plans were on show at Christ Church to see exactly what is involved in the second phase of their ambitious CC21 project.

Churchwarden Richard Church and PCC member Judith Duddy  were in the church to welcome visitors and show them the drawings and describe how the church plans to raise the necessary funds.

The first phase of CC21 was completed in 2005 - when £450,000 was raised over three years to start the refurbishment.  An office, toilet, refreshment area were created at the back of the church together with a mezzanine floor.

The second phase CC21,  which is expected to cost in the region of #230,000*   will include building a staircase and lift to access this floor which will then be developed to create three new rooms for meetings, additional toilets, storage and a refreshment area.

Judith Duddy says, The total cost of this work is being raised in four different ways:  gifts, pledges, loans and if people are not able to make immediate pledges they can aim to raise money using their talents.

To start this off we are having a day of Gifts and Pledges tomorrow - yes, it is a lot of money but it is amazing how generous people have been.

In his letter which has gone out to parishioners, the Rector, the Revd Peter Hunt says:

God has given us a compelling vision - to share the love and grace of God shown in Jesus with those around us and to grow as his disciples.  Refurbishing the church building enables us to do this better and is a key next step."

Plans also include adding glass doors at the west end of the church - http://www.warminsterpeople.co.uk/groups/warminstertowncouncil/Planning-applications-approved-Council-meeting/story-10608815-detail/story.html
