Wiltshire Council have approved plans for an 80 bed nursing home which will replace the former Beckford Centre on Gipsy Lane, Warminster.

The nursing home will be developed by Northcote Ryder Limited, and will be run by The Orders of St John Care Trust as long-term replacement for Woodmead Nursing Home on Portway.

The home will provide improved nursing facilities, a dementia care centre and a courtyard garden, and will accommodate all existing residents from Woodmead, plus additional capacity and the staffing team.

The operation will create somewhere in the region of 60 to 80 full-time posts, and is likely to have a positive knock-on effect on employment in Warminster, which is excellent news for the town. Works are likely to begin in early 2012.
