Two men have been arrested in Nottingham after pretending to be door to door salesmen in Chitterne and Codford near Warminster.
The two men were located and arrested in Nottingham.
Between midday and 2pm on Wednesday, 13, March 2013, members of the public reported two men wandering around the two villages in an attempt to sell items without a pedlar's certificate.
Jason Lee, 28, from Nottingham was charged with the offence of acting without a certificate and due to appear at North Wiltshire Magistrates Court.
Errol Betts, 45, also from Nottingham received an adult caution for the same offence.
Inspector Lindsey Winter said: "The communities with these two villages were rightly concerned regarding these two men and their activities."
"Any person selling items door to door requires the necessary documentation. It was quite right for the public to bring this matter to the attention of the Police and I hope they are reassured by the police response."
Both men were located, arrested and taken to Melksham Police Station where they were questioned.
"This should be a clear message to those visiting our Wiltshire villages that illegal door to door activity will not be tolerated," Lindsey Winter added.
