The big day has arrived...this evening sees the Warminster Carnival parade from Boreham Road through Warminster to Church Street, the culmination of a week of carnival activity in the town.

Thousands of party-goers are expected to hit the streets of Warminster, possibly as many as 5,000 if the weather holds. According to current weather reports, this evening will be dry but cloudy, and that's fine by us!

Warminster Carnival is the final major event on the Wessex Grand Prix circuit of carnivals, and the event itself is over 100 years old. There will be 10 large floats plus several smaller entries, as well as local personalities and groups talking part in the procession.

The parade starts at 6.45pm on Boreham Road outside the Conservative Club with the Lions fundraising float, followed by the police and fire service, town criers and marching bands.

Jennings Fair are also in town in the Central Car park to amuse the "youngsters" (or young at heart) including some appropriately spooky rides given that it is Halloween weekend.

Wishing everyone a safe Carnival night in Warminster!
