Cows loose in Warminster
The offences took place overnight on 30 November, in Kingston Deverill near Warminster, Union Street in Trowbridge and a recycling centre in Devizes.
The two men are also suspected of further crimes on the night of 5 December, when an Isuzu 4x4 was stolen from the Deverills area and abandoned near Westbury, and a Citroen Picasso was stolen from Bratton and abandoned near Devizes. The two men have been relased on police bail pending further inquiries.
Watch out for cows...
Fore Street in Warminster met with some unusual criminal activity on Friday 16 December, when a loose herd of cows damaged a car and gardens along the street. Just after 6.30am the cows made their way along Fore Street to the Broadway roundabout, then along Thornhill Road and Folly Lane. Plants were crushed and damaged, cars were scratched and a wing mirror was knocked off a car. The cows were
finally cornerded in Folly Lane, and the farmer responsible has received a number of complaints and claims for damage.
Cyclists should take care
Following a number of complaints from the public, one of the new Neighbourhood priorities for Warminster Town will include fining cyclists who use the pavement rather than the road. Spot fines of £30 will be issued to any cyclist caught cycling on the pavements in Warminster.
Burglaries in Warminster
Sometime towards the end of November/beginning of December, a house was broken into in the Fore Street area of Warminster, with the offender(s) gaining entry into a bungalow, and removing jewellery. The persons responsible made a mess and seem to have spent some time attempting to gain entry.
A bungalow in East Street had jewellery stolen sometime between 16 and 19 December, and at this stage it is not known whether the crime occurred during the day or night.
Accident in Bishopstrow
An empty bus skidded on ice at around 9am on Saturday 17 December, crashing into a wall in Bishopstrow High Street, Warminster. The driver luckily was not hurt, but the wall was damaged.
Catalytic Converters stolen
Two vans in Warminster, parked on Portway and Pound Row, had their catalytic converters on December 8 and 9. They were possibly stolen for the value of their scrap metal.
