Warminster Police have announced extra effort will be made to catch shoplifters in Warminster over the Christmas period.

As the festivities begin, extra police will be on standby to make sure everyone is safe and trouble free from crime this Christmas.

Shop Watch, CCTV and the Neighbourhood Policing Team will also be taking extra time to help reduce the levels of shoplifting in Warminster.

Inspector Lindsey Winter said: "If anyone is thinking about visiting our local towns to commit crime think again. We have demonstrated recently that we can work effectively with shop watch and CCTV to capture people shoplifting here in Warminster. This type of criminality will not be tolerated."

Warminster town centre was granted permission to update CCTV technology after Warminster Town Council found maintaining the old cameras would be more expensive.
