Warminster Town Council has received a letter of resignation from Councillor Stephen Wheeler today.  This was not unexpected since Councillor Wheeler has had to move to Weymouth for work reasons, and this move has now become permanent. Councillor Wheeler said: "It has been an honour and a privilege to serve the residents of the East Ward of Warminster, and it is with regret that I have made the decision to stand down."

Wiltshire Council's electoral services will now publish a notice of vacancy which will invite any ten electors from the electoral area to request an election, and If such a request is received the nomination process to invite candidates will be published by Friday 16 September. If no such request is received within 14 days, authority will be given to co-opt a replacement.
