Garrison dogs gathered with their owners to wish Peter Almond and his springer spaniel Henry well on the next stage of their long distance walk in aid of the charity Hounds for Heroes.
Former defence correspondent, Pete and his springer spaniel Henry have been in Warminster for the weekend taking a break from their 1,300 mile sponsored walk. They set out from Lands End in Cornwall on May 8th and aim to arrive in John O'Groats in mid October.
Peter says he hopes to raise awareness of the charity which trains dogs to help injured and disabled service men and women. He is writing a blog of his walk which demonstrates how much of a companion dogs can become. Much of it consists of conversations between Henry and Pete.
Before setting off on the next stage of his walk which will take him to Devizes, Peter said he had been greatly impressed by the generosity of people he had met along the way, many wanting to give money to the charity. Anybody wanting to make a donation can do this on line..
