Wiltshire Council fight to tackle loan scams

Wiltshire Council has joined forces with a national specialist team to stop local residents being scammed by loan sharks.
The council will be joining Trading Standard Officers and the England Illegal Money Lending Team to find and stop loan sharks from scamming people out of their money.
Illegal lending companies have been known to offer loans out with large APR percentages.
The teams and Wiltshire Council will work together to ensure loan sharks are investigated and taken to court as a measure to cut down on lending cons.
Keith Humphries, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for public health and protection services said: "Loan Sharks do not provide a community service, they prey on some of the most vulnerable people in society causing imaginable stress and sometimes physical harm to people who have limited finances."

"Our officers can call on the expertise and experience of this national team and send out a clear message that this kind of practice will not be tolerated," Keith Humphries added.
The Illegal Money Lending Team is government funded to help stop loan sharks across the country.
