Wiltshire Council gets cyber friendly at council hubs

Wiltshire Council has announced people can now access the internet using their own devices across some of the council locations in Wiltshire. 

The introduction to free internet access in council offices and libraries in Wiltshire comes as part of the Wiltshire Online Programme to help improve online resources across the county. 

The council would like to make people aware of the new internet especially this week is 'Get online week'. 

Cabinet member for communities said: "As we mark 'get online week' it is apparent access to the internet is increasingly important in today's society."

Libraries across Wiltshire with internet access include: Amesbury, Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge, Corsham, Calne and Melksham. 

The new development is also to encourage people to learn more about the internet and develop new skills.

"As more and more organisations develop their online services, we want our communities to have access to a computer and feel confident with the basics of what it can offer, including the internet. By offering free computer support and WI-FI we are removing the barriers to Wiltshire getting online."
