In preparation for icy conditions over the next few days, Wiltshire Council will be gritting the main network and secondary routes this evening (Saturday 17) and gritting crews will be on standby overnight and tomorrow morning.

The main network will be gritted from 6pm this evening followed by the secondary routes. The "main network" is defined as A and B roads and some C roads.

Wiltshire Council is advising people to take extreme care when driving tonight and tomorrow morning as salt may get washed away by rain causing icy surfaces. Gritting crews will be on standby to deal with the problems caused by the rain and freezing temperatures.

The weather will be monitored throughout the night but conditions tomorrow are expected to be similar to those of this morning.

Take care when driving or walking through the town centre or out in our rural villages!
