Eight arrests were made during the festive season according to local police in the Warminster and Westbury area.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day saw eight people being arrested during the night. Two people were arrested in Westbury and four out of the six people in Warminster were arrested for drink related offences.

Inspector Lindsey Winter said: "Our priority is trying to make sure the towns of Warminster Westbury and the surrounding villages are nice safe places for us to be whether we are spending time at home with our families or celebrating in public."

The six offenders were dealt with under public order offences and received a Fixed Penalty notice when they were fit enough to be released from police custody during New Year's Day.

"I would hope that most people enjoyed their Christmas and New Year's celebrations, sadly there were a small minority who had to be dealt with as their behaviour was unacceptable," Inspector Lindsey Winter added.
