My name is Jake Baynes and I am the UKIP Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Wells Constituency.
I am passionate about Mendip & Somerset and the safeguarding of our unique landscape heritage. I believe party politics were seriously abused in the MPs expenses scandal. I joined UKIP in 2009 as I have been increasingly worried for the loss of sovereignty to the UK.
I am a local man being born in Wells and living in Priddy on the Mendip Hills. I have travelled widely between university and my working career. I have worked as a postman, as cabin crew for First Choice Airways and as a caving instructor and guide for Cheddar Caves and Gorge. I was raised and worked in the Queen Victoria Inn, Priddy, which my parents Geoffrey and Judith Baynes ran for 39 years. I understand clearly the importance of the small businesses and the tourist industry in general with respect to this area. I graduated from the University of Birmingham with 2.1 Joint Honours degree in Geology and Geography, in 2001. In 2007 I qualified as a teacher of Geography from Bath Spa University (PGCE) and completed my NQT (Newly Qualified Teacher) at Chew Valley School and Norton Hill School.
I believe in the importance of small government and the right to self determination and retaining the sovereignty of our country, which many have died for to give us our freedom which we experience today. I believe that our membership with the Federal European Union is extremely dangerous and will lead to tyranny of the people. By large the system of 'government' is unaccountable and dictatorial in its decision making and law making and disregards referenda and opinions which differ from theirs, as seen in the countries that voted against the EU Constitution in the Netherlands, France and Ireland of which the latter were forced to vote a second time until the required answer was reached. This is NOT democracy.
I have stopped believing in the three old failed parties of the LIB/LAB/CON and their empty promises of an IN/OUT EU referenda (inc. EU Constitution and Lisbon Treaty), the lies for going to war with regard to WMDs and the recent expenses scandal that is a serious abuse of the trust between the electorate and the political system.
I do believe in UKIP wholeheartedly and realise that Britain's future lies with UKIP and not with any other political party.
I will continue to fight for local issues such as that achieved by the other parties because this is what the electorate wants, whilst still maintaining UKIPs policies. I would also be happy to work with other parties when we agree on a certain issue that is in the interest of the electorate. For example the issue of ghastly pylons that have been championed by Tessa Munt and David Heathcoat Amory.

UKIP is a very strong party and one that in this election is in it to win it. I am preparing to be the next MP for Wells Constituency.
If you want a real change then please vote for me.
