Warminster Branch Royal British Legion Fundraising
When Lesley Fudge 63, who volunteers as a welfare case-worker for the Warminster Branch of the Legion and her son-in-law Simon 36, a serving soldier currently serving in Sierra Leone, were planning a holiday trekking the Inca Trail to Macchu Piccu in Peru, Lesley decided that she would raise sponsorship for the local Legion Branch.
Now back from their big adventure, trekking some days for 11 hours and at a maximum altitude of 14,200 feet, where the air is thin and getting enough oxygen is hard, Lesley will be presenting her sponsorship money of over £800 to the Legion at the next Branch meeting.
It was a huge personal achievement for me as I pushed my body to the hardest physical limits I’ve ever tried. Thank goodness I trained at Busy Bodies gym most weekdays leading up to the event and trekked our glorious hills with my neighbours Capt. Gary Peacock, now serving in Helmand Province Afghanistan, although local hills do pale into context when faced with the High Andes!
