Can anyone answer my question as to why there are very few leisure facilities in Warminster?. Especially when families have to go out of their way to go ten pin bowling,Cinema or Quaser when it could be on our own doorstep. Any idea's please.

ReportSuppose nobody thinks they can make a leisure facility pay? - Was that why the cinema went? - Ten pin bowling would be fun - good family entertainment - what's a Quaser?

Sadly, I think it really does come down to a question of cost and profitability, for council and commercial firms. Ten pin bowling and the like tend to be attached to big out of town complexes, often in cities or larger towns, just to get the customers needed to make it viable.
Cinema is a different matter, but also with similar financial ends. It is difficult for independent cinemas to survive in small communities, and the big companies, like Odeon, will always look for larger venues. You may have heard that the planned Trowbridge cinema complex has fallen through. Not surprising, the investment runs to millions and would take years to pay off. Locally, there is a very good network of Film Societies, Warminster's is at The Athenaeum Centre. However, these don't tend to show mainstream films due to availability and tend to be monthly occasions. The quality is very good though and worth a visit.
Sadly, until Warminster grows to a far bigger size we will have to travel to do these things
