There is a good walk beside a river from the Smallbrook Lane carpark. A level track runs through the trees to pass a gurgling waterfall and then emerge at a wide expanse of cut grass. A broad stretch of the river and sloping bank makes the water accessible here - a good playground for children and dogs.
A short distance away, higher up the river are the remains of a brick building. I heard once that this was the remains of a mill and that the people of Upton Scudamore used to bring their crops here as they did not have a mill in their village. Has anybody else heard about this?
