I was so upset to hear that Beckford House is going to be pulled down. After visiting a friend, (whose job was to take care of it till developers get their hands on it,) I wandered around taking photos with my phone. This is so I have proof it actually existed at all!. This place has a lot of history I'm sure, & I felt very sad that it has to go at all. It has such lovely features, and a beautifull old wooden staircase. Which im sure will be torn out and burnt I expect.
I dont rant about these things often, but it is so sad to see it all going around us. this house is a sound dwelling. If I won the lottery tomoro, I would make them an offer they couldnt refuse, then restore it, and turn it into somewhere for the community. I would have an art centre, and also rent rooms out for groups or classes. The place is big enough to live upstairs and still rent out the ground floor. It is so sad. I would also buy the town Hall. Just to stop these numpties from bulldozing these places to the ground.
there is no community in warminster, no where for people to get together, and nowhere for tourists to visit. With longleat and centre parcs we could make a killing.
now im off to buy my winning lotto ticket. fingers crossed
