They say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, so why not treat your man to a lavish lunch or supper on Valentine's Day, this Tuesday 14 February?
Where to eat on Valentine's Day in Warminster...
Here at warminsterpeople, we believe it shouldn't all be about the man feeling obliged to buy a dozen red roses to show his affection - love works both ways. If your man happens to be a florist then he might appreciate a bunch of flowers, but otherwise chances are your stock will go up a few points if you treat him to a slap-up meal accompanied by plenty of drink!
You will be spoilt for choice in and around Warminster this Valentine's Day, and here we pick out some of our favourite suggestions.
The Prince Leopold Inn at Upton Lovell is offering a Valentine's Day "Sharing Menu" alongside the usual à la carte menu, where couples can indulge in a "dish made for two" including baked camembert, rib of beef and a plate of chocoloate desserts. Booking is essential so call 01985 850460.
The George Inn at Longbridge Deverill will be putting on romantic candlelit Valentine's Dinner from 11 to 18 February, with a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival. Call 01985 840396 for details and to book.
The Bath Arms at Horningsham has a 4 course Valentine's Menu including Brixham Crab Bisque, Ballotine of Quail, Roasted Guinea Fowl, Vension and Champagne Sorbet. Price £29.50 per person.
If you want to splash out and let your chap have a lie-in on the 15th to recover from the night before, stay overnight at the Bath Arms on 14 February for £210 including one night's accommodation, a bottle of bubbly and truffles, 3 course meal and a full English breakfast. Call 0844 815 0099.
The Masons Arms in East Street in Warminster has a Valentine's Day Menu including glass of punch, 3 course meal, bottle of house wine, liqueur and chocolates for £34.95 per person. Call 01985 212792 to book.
The Farmers Hotel on Silver Street in Warminster has a 4 course Valentine's Day menu for £40 per couple including a free carafe of wine - you can't say fairer than that.
For the ultimate in treats, why not splash out at the Bishopstrow House Hotel, recently acquired by Longleat Estates? They have a number of offers on during the Valentine's period, including a 5 course Valentine's Menu with red rose from £60 per person, where you can enjoy foie gras, oysters, champagne, scottish salmon and rack of lamb. They are also doing a Champagne Afternoon Tea for £23.95 per person.
Going further down this road, if your man is a true Warminster metrosexual and takes care of his appearance, treat him (and yourself!) to a Valentine's Day Spa at the Halcyon Spa at Bishopstrow, including a glass of champagne, romantic mud treatment, back, neck and shoulder message and a two course spa lunch (ladies can also have their nails done!) for £99 per person.
Alternatively, if the austerity measures have affected your ability to splash out on Valentine's Day, why not choose a Curry, Chinese or Fish and Chips from one of the many takeaways in Warminster, pick up a bottle of wine or crate of beer from Bargain Booze, and settle in for the evening. We can guarantee your chap will love you forever if your Valentine's Day treat is a curry and beer...
