The Warminster School Townroe Group is very proud to announce the upcoming TEDx event which will be taking place on Sunday 24th February in St Boniface Hall. This will be the first TEDxWarminsterSchool event of its kind and will be open to members of the public.

The Townroe group is made up of students who achieve highly, in and out of School. Membership to the group carries rewards and responsibilities and as such is a valuable preparation for university, work and life. The group, with the support of Mr Holiday-Scott, has solely organised this event from its inception to its presentation.

TED ( Technology, Entertainment, Design ) is a non-profit organisation devoted to 'Ideas Worth Spreading'. It started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago. TED has grown to support world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to listen to ideas worth sharing. Our event is called TEDxWarminsterSchool, where x = independently organised by the students of Warminster School. At TEDxWarminsterSchool TEDTalks videos, and live speakers, will combine to spark deep discussion and connection. The event will also include of musical performances.

Six speakers have now been confirmed, with more soon to follow. Each presentation will be very eclectic and will cover topics as wide ranging as psychology, art, volunteering overseas, photography, and communicating corporate brands. The programme of thought provoking topics is intended to create a mentally stimulating experience. It aims to encourage the idea of independent learning in a relaxed environment, a special kind of conference where you can just sit back and have your eyes opened. There will be opportunities to ask questions, express opinions and to engage with all speakers.
