Changes for Warminster drivers - new road layout, new parking charges.

Work has been in progress for past few weeks to widen the pavement in Fairfield Road and a pedestrian crossing is due to be built in Station Road.

The pavement in Station Road and Fairfield Road has been widened creating problems for turning lorries.
This week the Warminster Journal reports that the lorries from F & S Gibbs will have problems negotiating the turn from Station Road into Fairfield Road now that the pavement is wider.
Another change Warminster faces next week is that charges are being made in all car parks for the first time. We have yet to see what impact this will have on shopping habits.
Will spaces in Morrisons car park suddenly become harder to find? Will Lidl's be doing spot checks to make sure nobody parks longer than allowed? and we have yet to see how often official checks will be made in the Council car parks. If they have to pay a man too many hours to do the checking then it may cancel out any revenue from the machines! and will it be possible to sneak ten minutes free parking without a ticket and not get caught?
One thing is certain If they want to park legally in one of the Council car parks then drivers will need to carry cash - those carefree days of nipping in to town without worrying about having some coins for the machine are over!
Let us know if you are planning any changes to your shopping habits?
However in July a new system initiated by Warminster Town Council to help with parking charges is coming into place. Drivers will be able to redeem the first hour of their parking charge at certain traders in the town who have joined up to the parking partnership.

Squeeze out the little shops and traders, dispense with the civility of meeting people in the street and enjoy the sanitised world of big stores and vacant high streets.
