Two new stone gargoyles were hoisted into position on the Chapel of St Lawrence this week. The two schoolchildren who had won the competition for the designs were there to watch the event. For full story see www.stlawrencechapel.co.uk.

Really appreciate your comment Victoriaco, but it is odd that clergymen who claim to represent Jesus, and the God of the Bible, which condemns pagan doctrines; then adopt pagan methods of warding off evil spirits. It's a bit like the police looking for protection from the mafia! Or Greenpeace dealing in illegal chemical waste. Every Church of England I ever examined has them. It does make you think .

ReportA quick google says gargoyles were placed on churches to ward off evil spirits - so not exactly anything to do with the bible, or Jesus, but some kind of protection for a holy place?

ReportDoes anyone never stop to ask, 'Why does the Church of England like being filled with demonic symbolism?' If you don't like this comment, just check out some of the symbols used in the church, and research the origins of it. What have gargoyles got to do with the Bible, or Jesus anyway?
