If you're unsure of what Warminster has to offer here's a short guide on where to look in the town's "looks" department. Whether it be a rescue treatment for hair after an overdose of
swimming pools, or just a chance to learn how to move one from the “same old, same old” makeup routine, here’s some
help on where to go in Warminster for that all important special occasion or maybe simply a personal boost.
Top of the pops luxury-wise and no doubt price-wise must be
the treatments on offer at the Halcyon Spa in Bishopstrow House on the
Salisbury road out of town. Although this country house hotel has a club membership for use of its two swimming pools and
gym, anybody can book up for treatments in their Spa. It's Warminster's only one and offers
some exotic sounding treatments which include cleansing mud, herb-infused steam or a
frangipani body nourish wrap.
Down the road in East Street at Roland John’s Hair Studio, Jo
Jo has a beauty salon offering facials and manicures. Just
Beauty in the High Street offers facials (from £15), waxing (half leg 15 mins
£12), aromatherapy (full body £35) and reflexology (£25 for 60 mins)
At Top to Toe in George Street there is something extra on offer. Besides the routine appointments,
owner Valerie Bush offers a specialised treatment in semi-permanent make-up: “When
people have had chemotherapy and lose their body hair it means they also lose
their eyebrows. It is possible to tattoo
in eyebrows and little dots for eyelashes,” says Valerie who trained in London
in these techniques.
Another specialist is the Temple Clinic in Station Road which
offers skin related procedures. Owned by eight doctors it provides
professional medical treatment both on the NHS and privately. If there is a
medical need patients are referred here for the removal of warts and moles on
the NHS. If removal is purely on
cosmetic grounds then a charge is made as a private patient. Treatments include removing unwanted skin blemishes through minor cosmetic surgery and
wrinkle-relaxing, a safe gentle treatment to reduce wrinkles and lines.
Warminster may be short on its spa choice but it does offer
big volume when it comes to hairdressing salons. This list is an attempt to include them all -
any additions or amendments welcome:
East street - Roland John and Regency Hair Stylist
High Street – New
Image, Twist and Eclipse Ladies and
Gents Hair Stylist
Market Place, Cappelli
Silver Street, The
Italian Job and Uppercuts
Broxburn Road, Classic Hair, Weymouth
Street, Mimmos, 2 Chinns
Court.
Barbers include:
The Barber Shop Trio in Three Horseshoes Walk, Roys Salon in George St and Banana Blues Barber Shop in the High Street.
This brief summary of Warminster's salons suggests some places to find help in keeping up appearances – and remember treatments
are not just for the females among us – Top to Toe offers a Pit Stop Massage
for men – price £25.
Any comments on user trials would be welcome!
