If all goes according to current arrangements in place the new Warminster Waitrose
-
Dents present factory, offices and warehouse in Fairfield Road where the new Waitrose will be built.
store planned for the Dents site in Fairfield Road
may be open in September 2011.
The Town Council heard from representatives of developers Henry Boot and the John Lewis foodchain Waitrose
when they gave an update on plans for the new development to yesterday's Planning Advisory Committee meeting.
The Council agreed an amendment to the original planning
application made because of a
change in internal layout. This effects only the front and side elevation and has no impact on nearby residents.
Director of Boots, Julian Painter, said it was hoped to start building on Dents' new site in Furnax Lane in August and for the company
to move to their new premises during February and March 2011.
With Dents' Fairfield Road site empty and ready for clearing, construction of the new Waitrose store could begin in April.
Development Surveyor Jonathan Banhan told Warminsterpeople after the meeting that once they are on site the building should go ahead reasonably quickly with the possibility
of opening in September 2011. Mr Banhan said
the new store will be roughly the same size as the Melksham Waitrose which opened recently and would carry the same number of lines.
