There's a new look to Silver Street with some smart sofas and chairs  now to be seen in what was an empty shop window.  SofaCo Plus has extended its display area by occupying empty premises next to the Farmers Hotel.

Tom O'Hare, owner of SofaCo Plus, said, "I have limited space here in George Street so  asked if I could use the windows on a temporary basis."

The shop belongs to the neighbouring Farmers Hotel which is hoping to convert the site into residential accommodation.  Manager Simi Slade said " We are pleased that the space is being used meanwhile.  It looks much better than an empty window."

Tom O'Hare said that the new window display is helping to draw  customers to his shop in George Street.

It used to be so nice, when all the shops were full, and the dressing of windows was an art. A decent window display certainly attracted attention, and advertised in a soft approach kind of way. Carnival time I think, there used to be a competition for the best window. Anyone else know about that? Maybe it still happens.
