Six members of the Warminster cycle group turned out on Saturday to clear the footpath in Smallbrook lane. With the mud and water laying 6 inches deep in places, they set to clearing the mud and exposing the road surface below. The route is one identified as a vital link into town, via the park, for both walkers and cyclists, although it is a footpath it is used informally by cyclists. The work highlights the need to keep these routes clear, they belong to all who use them and action to clear them is long overdue.

Colin French said "Its a good time to take action locally, and we need to see more effort put into the local infrastructure, we all benefit in the long term"

Action on the route to Dents new factory site is being considered by the group, after raising the issue at the Library last November, one idea is to  approach local businesses to sponsor the work.

The members of the group are

Colin French

Gordon Davies

John Bundy

Tony Moore

Steve Murtie

Mike Gerrard

Bethany Murtie.

After three hours work and cups of tea, they had it looking great, and are already planning more action on other routes in town.

Those wishing to help on the next project contact Colin French.

That looks like great work - not sure where it is though? Is it the continuation of Smallbrook Lane (off the Boreham Road) to meet Smallbrook Road? If it is would it be useful to have it signed off the Boreham Road as route into the town centre for pedestrians and cyclists - and a sign at the other end to Boreham Road?
