Members of the CCTV

committee  of Warminster Town Council heard last week that a new camera has been erected in Portway by

Portway House.  This was in response to

requests from residents in the area.

It was reported

that this new camera gives excellent coverage of Portway to George Street, to the railway bridge, the

Hospital and The Close.

The director of Stockland has given his

assurance that new cameras will also be installed in Three Horseshoes Walk in July.  These will be at the Library and on both sides

of the mall giving full coverage.  The

seating was removed in March due to vandalism in the area (http://www.warminsterpeople.co.uk/news/Seating-removed-Warminster-Shopping-Mall/story-4559035-detail/story.html

) and it was agreed that once the new CCTV cameras are in place the seating

will be replaced.

 Chairman of the

CCTV committee Cllr Steve Wheeler commented:  “We are pleased to have been able to respond

to the request by so many residents for moreCCTV coverage of

vulnerable areas.  I am sure everyone

will welcome the return of the seating in

Three Horseshoes Walk.”
