This week’s profile has been completed by Jacob Cooper.

Jacob Cooper
Jacob attended Warminster School for 4 years and for the last 18 months has
been writing and composing his own musical ABARAS, along with Jack Cooper –
also a student at Warminster
School. ABARAS was staged
as a workshop production at the Athenaeum in Warminster on the 30th
June after only 24 hours of rehearsals. The musical was extremely well received, the successful evening marked both Jacob and Jack’s debuts and writers and composers
for the stage.
Jacob will continue on next year to take lessons in
Orchestration and use his newly learnt skills to fine tune ABARAS and make the
musical more commercially viable.
Watch out for this rising star, no doubt you can expect to
see ABARAS in the West End in years to come.
Q. How long have you lived in Warminster?
A. Never actually lived in Warminster, but boarded at Warminster School for 4 years.
Q. Where were you born?
A. Rotherham
Q. Did you go to a Warminster school? If so which one?
A. Yes. Warminster School
Q. Do you have a nickname you are prepared to reveal?
A. Jabba. Apparently I look like Jabba the Hut from Star
Wars!! (Boarding house humour for you!!)
Q. Who shares your home? – please include any pets.
A. Father: Andrew, Mother: Sue, Brother: David, Dog: Meg, 2
Gerbils: George and Chocolate, 2 Rats: Honey and Hazel.
Q. What are your hobbies/interests?
A. Music, obviously! I play Rugby,
Hockey, Cricket, Squash and Badminton in my spare time.
Q. Do you feature on Facebook or Twitter?
A. I have Facebook (search Jacob Cooper).
Q. In which Warminster pub, café or restaurant are you most
likely to be found?
A. Hotwok (Chinese takeaway by the Obilisk).
Q. Do you have a pop idol?
A. Not a 'pop' idol as such, but Earl Carpenter. He has been
'The Phantom' in 'The Phantom of The Opera', 'Javert' in 'Les Miserables',
'Gaston' in 'Beauty and The Beast' and 'Joe Gillis' in 'Sunset Boulevard'. I
admire him greatly because he trained somewhere that is not
considered particularly 'fashionable' in the world of Musical Theatre, yet
still has made a big name for himself on the West End
stage.
Q. Where do you go for a favourite Warminster walk?
A. I like to walk around the golf course on the top of the
hill overlooking the town. It is an amazing view.
