Exploring Warminster Streets from home

From today it is possible to explore nearly a quarter of a million miles of British roads on the screen with pictures taken at street level.  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/7418821/Google-Street-View-goes-nationwide-in-Britain.html

Google maps have extended their street view imaging service which now covers nearly 95% of British roads which have been filmed using panoramic cameras fixed to car roofs.  In pedestrianised areas and at places like Stonehenge a tricycle has been used.

Now it is possible to visit all the streets in Warminster you have never been down.  On the Google map screen a man appears above the zoom strip and by moving him onto any particular street it is possible to have a 360 degree view from that particular point.

The fun is in recognising figures and incidents.  Who is that crossing the road? Why was the ambulance outside that house?

Will there be people who will be worried about this record now being on line? Perhaps you have been filmed on a mission that you did not want others to know about?   Although Google have blurred out the number plates of cars and people's faces there are some who see this as an invasion of personal privacy.  Should we all be worried about this?

Meanwhile take a look around Warminster and let us know what you see – were you around when the vans were filming? And who will be the first to claim they have been caught on camera? And it would be interesting to date the filming process  - it should be able to do this by such things as the house that had the skip outside.

Let us know if you discover an unexpected incident that has been filmed.
