Warminster MP, Dr Andrew Murrison, has been asked by Prime Minister David Cameron to explore how improvements can be made in treating troops traumatised by active service - see http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/campaigns/our_boys/3002367/DAVID-Cameron-to-get-troops-trauma-help.html .
Dr Andrew Murrison, who served as a medical officer in the Royal Navy for 18 years and completed a tour in Iraq in 2003, said "I am very pleased to be asked by David to do this.
He has clearly taken a personal interest in combat stress which bodes
well for the future."
Dr Murrison will draw from resources in the MOD
and the department of health in putting together his plans which he
will submit to the PM before the House rises at the end of
July.

This is a good choice by David Cameron but I hope this won't be a 'Frank Field' type move on the part of the Government.
After all wars psycological problems are a hidden time bomb. Soldiers who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan have been fighting our most serious war since Korea and should not have to suffer for the rest of lives as a result of their service to their country.
Nearly thirty years on, the suicides amoungst Falklands veterans now exceed those killed in the actual conflict. Add in premature deaths from alcoholism, etc. and it is not a happy picture.
