Pedestrian improvements?

Now that the workmen have gone from the market place was all the disrution worth while? The pavements are wider and smooth. However all the pedestrian crossings are hard to use as inexplicably both indicators face the same way. If you watch them to see the green man you cannot see any traffic soming from teh left. why is one screen not facing across the road to be seem by all? Was this planned or an accident?
As a driver I do not appreciate that there are only a few spaces for those turning left into Wetmouth Street, so this traffic tails back. If you come up the High Street there is less space when positioning to turn right into Weymouth Street.
I'm sure the cafes all appreciate being able to place a couple of tables outside in the better weather for their smoking customers, but was that why this expense and disruption happened?

With reference to the pedestrian crossing no longer having an audible warning. This is because there are so many alarms & beeps going off these days, they cause confusion for blind & partially sighted people who they were intended to help.

ReportSound alert or no this crossing continues to bewilder with its two tier red/green man lights. I thought it might be the latest fashion in pedestrian crossings but at London's Oxford Circus an innovative diagonal crossing was opened last November.
It has one set of green/red man lights on each post and one on the opposite side.
If one of London's busiest junctions needs only one set why does Warminster need the two signs one above the other? - and none on the other side of the road?

ReportAm i right in thinking the new crossings don't have sound alerts? I find that quite strange.

ReportHas anybody seen two identical green/red man signs, one above the other, in another town? Surely Warminster is not the only place where they have been installed?

ReportIt is very hazardous for cyclists in busy traffic in the Market Place nowadays as drivers leave insufficient room on the left hand side and there is the danger from on coming traffic on the offside. The pavement seems to be the safest option.
