A retrospective planning application for extra car parking

on the main road through Bishopstrow was approved at a meeting of the Planning

Advisory Council of Warminster Town Council this week.  This was agreed in spite of two appeals

against it, one from a local resident who lives on the nearby roundabout and one

from a Bishopstrow spokesman.

Anthony Potter, speaking as chairman of Bishopstrow Village

Meeting, requested that the committee reject the application from R & R

Coaches, which operate under the name Beeline Coaches, as it “has turned the

Warminster approach to the Bishopstrow Conservation Area into both a traffic

hazard and something resembling an industrial estate.”

Mark Hayball, Director of Beeline, said the changes had been

made to ensure the safety of employers on a site where space is limited.  He pointed out that the manoeuvres by cars

were limited to two occasions during the day and he had not been approached by

anybody to complain about the changes.

Cllr Stephen Wheeler said he thought that parking on the

neighbouring corner was more hazardous and Cllr Veronica Burden believed the

area looked tidier now than it had before the changes.  A proposal to accept

the application was approved.

The bigger question is when Beeline is going to move location altogether.
