attracted the enthusiasts. This weekend
it was the model railway fans who flocked into the town.
The Warminster & District Model Railway Group held its
35th Annual Exhibition on Saturday. Secretary Reg Tudgay said, “We hold this
event every year and give all our profits to charity. This year we are dividing the money between children’s and
animal charities. Next year because the Assembly Rooms will not
be available we are moving to the Warminster Leisure Centre.”
Chairman of the Group is Eric Walford, one of a handful of professionals who makes model engines for his living. In
50 years of model making he has the
remarkable achievement of building 1,056 engines. These can range in price from £2,000 for a model made from a kit to £6,000 for a completely hand made model.
