Warminster Wildlife Group lunches at Langford Lakes

Warminster Group of the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust enjoyed a warm autumn day for their annual lunch at Langford Lakes Nature Reserve on Saturday. Around 40 members met up for a ploughman's lunch followed by a talk about the new land adjoining the lakes which has been acquired by the Trust.
Sarah Wood, Visitor Centre Co-ordinator, spoke to the group about the 25 acres which will be made into a water meadow and large reed bed. Sarah said, "This is an exciting project as it is the largest reed bed the Trust will have and we hope to encourage bittern and water rail to visit. It will also mean we can create a circular footpath on the Reserve."
The event raised £245 for Trust funds.

What a wonderful place the Langford Lakes are and the annual Autumn lunch lures Warminster people down there to enjoy what it has to offer. The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust have done so much to turn the old gravel pits into a haven for birds and wildlife as well as providing such a peaceful place to spend time and un-wind. I hope people will feel they can pop in there en route to or from Salisbury and perhaps join the Wildlife Trust and help the work they do. We have regular Autumn / Winter lecture meetings in Warminster, so well worth getting involved.
