A group of local artists have once again joined forces to display their work at the Athenaeum Centre. The collection presents a feast of colour and craft reflecting a wide range of creative skills and talents.

The favourite earthy colours of Jo Duggan’s ceramics are shown in the mugs (or are they jugs?) with swirly blue, green and cream stripes. Gaynor Ringland, who has acted as co-ordinator for the exhibition, originally trained as a glass maker. Besides her colourful plates she has produced a quirky collection of Christmas decorations made out of scraps of material and card.
Susan Macarthur has stitched and painted onto fabric and paper in subtle shades which hold the eye. Her pictures are divided into sections which are combined with stitching to complete the composition. There are bright embroidered handbags by Hilary Kay, elegant jewellery by Carolyn Crossman and striking ceramics by Ed Duckworth.
If Warminster is being urged by the WVCP (Warminster and Villages Community Partnership) to buy their Christmas presents locally this is an excellent place to start. As Gaynor Ringland says, “We are only here for four weeks but offer unique presents of affordable crafts which have all been made in the area.”
Athenaeum Contemporary Crafts can be seen in the Meeting room beside the Athenaeum Theatre until 19th December on Mondays to Saturdays from 10am-4.30pm.
