Warminster's Messages of Sympathy?
By Victoriaco | Friday, February 05, 2010, 09:42
With tributes pouring in for the two Warminster soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan this week how can Warminster best show its sympathy to the regiment, families and friends?
One idea is a book which could be signed by Warminster residents and then passed to the families concerned. The 3rd Bn Yorkshire Regiment has such a book which is passed around for everybody in the barracks to add a personal contribution.
Would it be possible to have a book in the town, perhaps the Chapel of St Lawrence which is open every day and centrally placed? or maybe at the Town Hall, Dewey House or would people be prepared to go to the barracks and sign a book which is held there?
Warminster could give great support to the military community in this way and the regiment said such a tribute would be much appreciated.

I would agree that the chapel seems an appropriate place to have a book of condolence, if the church doesn't mind.

Reportthis was a wonderful suggestion by Victoria, i have been into the chapel to leave my condolences in the books and the response is very touching, i was heartened to see that the first dedication was from a member of our town council, Victoria, you are a credit to our town!!

ReportGreat idea, a wonderful way for the people of Warminster to show their support and appreciation for the sacrifice these men have made. The chapel is a good central location which no doubt would attract people who wouldn't otherwise know the books were there. Please keep me posted about more details.
