Detectives are appealing for help in identifying the man pictured in connection with an assault on a teenage girl in Warminster.

At around 7.20pm on Friday, October 2, a 15-year-old girl was walking along Boreham Road when a man approached her from behind. As she passed the junction with Rock Lane, the man got her into a headlock. The girl managed to break free and the man ran off in the direction of the town centre.

The man is described as white, in his mid to late 30s, approximately 5'8" tall and of stocky build with short brown hair and stubble on his face. He was wearing glasses with a thick black frame, black or blue tracksuit bottoms with white lines down the side and a shiny black thigh length raincoat.

Detective Constable Tracy Mead, of Wiltshire Police, said: “This assault was very frightening for the teenage girl involved and we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious. I would also urge anyone who recognises the man pictured to contact police.”

Anyone with information on the identity of the man pictured or who witnessed the assault is asked to call DC Tracy Mead on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if necessary.
