So what has happened to Warminster's local radio station?

Has 3trfm gone for ever or will we be able to tune in again soon? 3trfm, or Three Towns Radio fm, began broadcasting to Warminster, Westbury and Frome in 2001.

Today there is no reply from their studio at Boreham Mill and no reply from their marketing department, but that’s not

surprising on a bank holiday.

Their website has a notice saying “... unavailable,

sorry! our website is currently undergoing essential maintenance, we apologise

for any incovenience.  We will be back up

and running soon, keep checking back!  If

you need information contact YMC Radio Group."

YMC Radio Group website says “Page Not Available”

Warminsterpeople carried the following story at the end of last

year.

“In spite of recent financial hiccups 3trfm reports that its

listening figures are exceptional for a local radio station.  Over a four week period, 27,000 listeners

tune in, representing 40% of a possible 67,000 adult listeners in the

Warminster, Westbury and Frome area which they serve.

3 trfm, which is based in Bishopstrow Mill, was bought last

month along with three other radio stations by a newly formed radio holding

company, Your Media Communications Group.

Nick Evelyn for YMCG says, “We are a growing company with

plans to expand.  We want to provide

local communities with the radio they want to hear.”

Jenna Stafford, Sales Executive at 3trfm, explains their

success, “We appeal to a wide range of ages and because we are inoffensive 3trfm

can be played in the workplace and in shops.”

This week the local press report the station has closed down after

months of uncertainty and that YMC went into administration last year.  They also report that Star Radio Cheltenham

have come forward as possible backers.

Meanwhile recorded music is being broadcast on 107.5 FM and Warminster must wait for more news.

3TR FM (Three Towns Radio) is a radio station based in the ancient market town of Warminster, Wiltshire, United Kingdom. It broadcasts on 107.5 FM to the West Wiltshire, East Somerset and surrounding area, and online via Internet streaming. It was formerly known as Pride FM until a name change took place shortly after the licence was awarded.
    [edit]History

On November 5, 2001, after a period of test transmissions, Jonathan Fido presented the first live programme - the breakfast show at 8:30am, accompanied by key local people from the area, staff from the Local Radio Company and the station's crew at the time.
The last song to be played before officially going live was 'Sweet Surrender' by Wet Wet Wet. A specially-produced introduction was then played featuring a montage of voice-overs, clips and other segments officially launching the station. The first official song played was 'Wake Up Boo!' by the Boo Radleys.
Shortly after the main on air launch, James Moran and David Stratton (High Sheriff of Wiltshire) unveilled a gold plaque in the reception area of the station live on air, in front of many photographers and press reporters.
The station's Studio in Wiltshire includes two broadcast and production studios, several offices, 'glass room' (now dismantled), technical equipment hub and garden adjacent to the River Wylye.
