  • The combine harvester creates a cloud of dust as it processes the grain.
  • Tractor approaching with a trailer for the grain to be offloaded.
  • Trailer draws alongside for the wheat grain to be poured in while the combine continues to cut.
  • The line of loose straw left behind the combine.
  • A tractor towing a baler which picks up the straw ...
  • and rolls it into a bale which is dropped out of the back.
  • The straw is densely packed into a circular bale.
  • The bales are dropped in lines across the field.
  • In a matter of hours a field of standing corn is transformed into stubble and straw.
  • Mission accomplished.

    Very good photos - does anyone know if the round bales have a special name? I always thought they were called dougals but perhaps I made that up.
