A HIDDEN GEM IN WARMINSTER!!

Well, there are not many times I am speechless, but Toran took all my preconceptions and blasted them off to mars! It was our 9th Anniversary and we really fancied a really good indian. In the city we regularly ate at Benares, and also at Hox in Salisbury, but didn't want the trek into the city so reviewed Warminsters selection and stumbled upon Toran. When you first pull into the large car park, directly off the A36 the place does look a bit sad and unappealing, but if a fellow diner had not greeted us with a cheery hello and gleaming recommendations, we may, just may have passed onwards.. But so glad we didn't. When entering, the foyer leads into a bar and seating area, complete with leather sofas and widescreen t.v for the takeaway customers, who I may add get 15% off an already keenly priced menu, and then into the spacious, clean restaurant. We had a simple theory, if they could get our favourites which are basic "curry house" fayre right, next time we could be more adventurous! We ordered the usual poppadums to pick at.. No nasty lime pickles here!! Jyst homemade chutneys and fresh, crisp salads. The tamarind & date molasses chutney I could have happily drowned in! Then came my king prawn korma, smooth, soft and mouthwateringly tender. The keema nan was fluffy and soft with lightly spiced minced lamb inside, just delicious. My husbands all time favourite, butter chicken in his wordsuummmmmm nice... Yummmmmmm, alibg with an earthy spiced mushroom bhaji. In summary Toran is a hidden gem, well worth visiting, but you will be hooked. They pride themselves on the healthy alternative, no greasy oil slicked, brightly coloured fake food here! Jyst honest locally sourced where possible food, treated with respect and spiced to a near physicist level. Lovely, lovely, lovely. Im most definitely a fan now, and most importantly going to be a 'regular'.
